History of The Garden House
Built originally for E.A. Turner in 1883, the house was sold to a Mr. Koepf who moved it to its present site in 1906 and remodeled it from Italian Villa style to Queen Anne Style. In 1916, the Jefferson Park Ladies' Improvement Club acquired the house, and in 1976 it was listed in the Washington Heritage Register and the National Register of Historic Places as the Turner-Koepf House. It remains the oldest house in the Beacon Hill of Seattle.
The Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs (WSFGC) obtained the house in 1977 to serve as a headquarters for its meetings. The Garden House is administered by a WSFGC Board of Trustees, supervised by a WSFGC member and is maintained by a caretaker/agent.
Currently, the house is used by WSFGC and member garden clubs, community organizations, and is available for rental to responsible individuals for meetings, weddings, receptions and other events.
